An Education for the Future.
The Cedar Valley Waldorf School provides a holistic education that addresses the spiritual, emotional, mental and physical aspects of the child. The school develops confident, independent thinkers who have a strong social and environmental conscience and who respond to the world with compassion and creativity. The school community honours the child, fosters harmonious relationships and celebrates the wonder of life.
The Cedar Valley School Association, a non-profit charitable organization, was established in 1999, and registered as a society in January 2000. In 2008, the Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) officially recognized the Cedar Valley Waldorf School as a developing Waldorf School.
The Cedar Valley Waldorf School was started by an enthusiastic group of parents inspired to bring Waldorf education to Squamish in 2000. Initially a parent and tot group, the Morningstar Kindergarten was established in 2002 with 15 happy children. The following year the Rainbow preschool was born and the grade school was created with a mixed age grade one to three. In 2004, the grades classes along with the kindergarten were recognized as an Independent School by the Ministry of Education of BC. Now a fully established school, the Cedar Valley Waldorf School will add a grade each year until the full complement of grade eight is reached. As of 2009 we offer parent and tot, preschool, and grades K-6.
In the summer of 2008 we purchased a Mennonite church in Valleycliffe and transformed it into a beautiful school.
